It is present in every functional interaction with a kitchen or bathroom: opening a drawer to find a spoon, pulling a cabinet to reach a glass, closing a door with one hand. Over years, the quality of that interaction registers. Who is Maha Alavi, and what is the CERCLE series?

Maha Alavi is a Tokyo-based industrial designer from Toronto. The CERCLE series takes its name from the French word for circle, and its forms from geometry: a sphere, a half-sphere, an oval, a partial arc. Each form is resolved to its minimum and produced without ornament. The knobs do not look like they are trying to be anything. They look like what they are: precise objects made with care.

Each piece is cast in solid bronze or brass at a small family-run foundry and hand-finished. The series is available in eleven finishes, from natural unlacquered brass to dark bronze.
