A monumental handwoven storage basket made from natural buriti palm fiber by Warao artisans in the Venezuelan Amazon. Traditionally used for storing food and household goods, the rounded form and fitted lid reflect generations of functional weaving knowledge passed through Warao communities.

At 24 inches wide, the basket has a generous, sculptural presence while remaining versatile enough for everyday use. The tightly coiled weave reveals subtle shifts in tone and pattern throughout, highlighting the rhythm and precision of the handwoven construction. Beautiful for storing blankets, toys, or larger household objects, it brings warmth and texture to a space.

Created by the Nona Nonamo collective, meaning “Women who weave” in the Warao language, the basket represents the continuation of cultural traditions and artisanal knowledge, sustained through weaving despite the ongoing challenges of displacement and migration.
