This extra-large mortar and pestle dates back to the late 19th to early 20th century, Southern Africa and has developed a beautiful patina from time and use.

These are traditionally used in the kitchen to mill maize, grain, wheat and hemp seeds. This item is carved out of a single block of indigenous hardwood.
