Chosen for integrity, care, and longevity
Responsible Design at Mararamiro
Responsible design, to us, is not a certification badge or a trend category. It is a way of choosing: objects made with care, made to last, already in the world, or created through thoughtful small-scale production.
We do not believe every object needs to be new, perfect, or mass-produced to be useful. Some of the most meaningful pieces are shaped by hand, marked by age, repaired over time, or made slowly in small quantities. Our approach is less about claiming perfection and more about resisting disposability.
Each piece marked as Responsible Design meets one or more of the following criteria.

Made Slowly
Objects made by hand, in small batches, or through artisan-led production. These pieces often carry the evidence of their making: subtle variation, irregularity, texture, and the quiet presence of the person or studio behind them.

Made with Considered Materials
Pieces made from natural, durable, recycled, reclaimed, or lower-impact materials where applicable. We look for materials with integrity, chosen not only for how they look, but for how they feel, age, and endure.

Already in the World
Vintage, antique, one-of-a-kind, and existing objects kept in circulation. Choosing what already exists is one of the clearest ways to move away from disposable consumption while bringing character, history, and depth into the home.

Made to Last
Enduring forms, repairable construction, and pieces selected beyond trend cycles. We look for objects that can live with you for years, useful, beautiful, and worthy of being moved, mended, inherited, or reimagined.
Sourced with Respect
Cultural context, maker relationships, and sourcing practices are considered before selection. We value objects with origins, stories, and craft traditions that deserve to be represented with care.
How Products Are Marked
Products marked with Responsible Design are not all responsible in the same way. Some are vintage. Some are handmade. Some are made from thoughtful materials. Some are chosen for their longevity, their repairability, or the way they support small-scale production.
The badge is not a claim of perfection. It is a note of intention.

Objects Worth Keeping
At Mararamiro, we believe the most responsible object is often the one you keep. The one that remains on the table, moves from room to room, gathers memory, and becomes part of the life around it.
