Product Story

Original Limited Edition Etching (16/50), 19.5 x 18 in (framed)

A vivid exploration of pattern, texture, and abstraction, Treasure Hunt draws the viewer into a rhythmic grid of saturated coral and burnt sienna. Each panel reveals subtle details—splatters, cracks, and impressions—that invite closer inspection and speak to the joy of discovery. The piece is professionally matted and framed in a warm neutral tone.

Please note: the mat and backing paper have developed a slight wave over time. This could be corrected with fresh framing materials, though we’ve chosen to preserve it as-is.

John K Esler (1933–2001) was a celebrated Canadian printmaker and educator whose experimental approach pushed the boundaries of traditional printmaking. Based in Alberta for much of his career, Esler was known for his meticulous techniques and his interest in layered imagery, pattern, and architectural influence. His work is held in major collections including the National Gallery of Canada and the Glenbow Museum. Treasure Hunt, dated 1975, captures Esler’s signature style: playful yet precise, with a masterful sense of colour and form.
